Connecting to your cluster
Launchpad builds your backend applications as docker containers that get deployed to a Kubernetes cluster.
Using Launchpad Open Source
We purposefully designed Launchpad to be flexible enough to deploy to a Kubernetes cluster of your choice. This makes it possible to use Launchpad's open source deployment framework in the cloud of your choice (AWS, GCP, Azure, Digital Ocean).
- Deploy to your own cluster. Alternatively, you can configure Launchpad to deploy to a Kubernetes cluster you control.
Using Launchpad with Mission Control
Using Launchpad with a Jetpack-managed cluster allows you to use Mission Control to speed up onboarding and deployment. Features only available in Mission Control supported clusters include:
- One-step onboarding by signing into your Jetpack Account
- Secrets and environment management with
launchpad env
- Preview and Production URLs with our bundled Ambassador Gateway
Read about the two high-level options below:
- Deploy to the Jetpack Cloud. The Jetpack Cloud gives you access to private namespaces on a Kubernetes cluster managed by us. This is useful for trying out some of Mission Control's features on a test service.
- Create a Mission Control supported cluster (AWS only). Creating a Mission Control supported cluster gives you the advanced features of Mission Control on your own cloud.
Provisioning managed clusters in non-AWS clouds from the Launchpad CLI is not currently supported. If you are interested in using Mission Control with these providers, please Contact Us
